Whats on My Vanity Table; Tuesday's Inspirations VII
Lately, I’ve been giving some serious thought to the meaning of the term anti-aging. As I sit here typing this post, I’m aging. You’re aging as you read what follows in the next few paragraphs. We’re all aging, all the time. It’s inevitable.
I suppose what I find most disturbing about the term anti-aging are the rules associated with it which are, in my mind, ridiculously confining. If you’re over forty (for example), you’re told your time is up. You can no longer wear shimmer shadows – it’s not age appropriate. You can no longer wear sexy high heels without getting judgmental smirks - you’re trying too hard. You can no longer get away with wearing long hair - accept your age.
I’m not against aging, I’m for it! Because I’ve aged, all that is different. I mean look, I’m taking a very clear and pointed stance on this subject despite the risk of turning some people off. Aging, definitely has its benefits.
So for this anti-aging "thing" I still love my make-up I still play around with them and found of them, and the feel and the pleasure they give well its play-time for the this lady.
And I know I will always be playing and wearing make-up till the end of my life till the anti-aging fades (thats on my wish list).
“…make-up is about confidence, and if bright colours, bold statement make-up helps show this then why not?“

Whats on My Vanity Table; Tuesday's Inspirations VI
On my Vanity table this week is my old friend Guerlain.
I guess this week its my "perfume stage". The perfume Im going to post today is; Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire.
Guerlain’s newest and sweetest fragrance creation is La Petite Robe Noire, a nod to the ideals behind finding that ultimate wardrobe holy grail: "The Little Black Dress".
The story of La Petite Robe Noire began in 2009, when the house of Guerlain launched an exclusive and limited edition fragrance which was only available to a very selective clientele, followed by La Petite Robe Noire 2 last year.
Left: The first La Petite Robe Noire. Right: The new one.
This fall, Guerlain will offer this very chic scent to broad market. Fresher, more radiant and passionate, in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser has modified his big love, La Petite Robe Noire slightly.
Personally speaking, I have started using the new launched perfume and Im loving it but waiting for the sun to go down it suits my skin beter.
The playful and sparkling aromas of black cherry, bergamot, red berries and almond. Bulgarian and Turkish roses rule the heart along with licorice and smoked black tea. Aniseed, tonka bean, vanilla, iris and patchouli form the base.
Modern fragrance that is unashamedly girlish, but they never overpower and make this scent ridiculously easy to wear (and love).
Top notes: Red berries, black cherries, almond and bergamot
Middle notes: Licorice, Bulgarian and Turkish roses and smoked black tea
Base notes: Anise and the famous Guerlinade (A mix of the Guerlain’s beloved ingredients: Tonka bean, vanilla, iris and patchouli)
Illustrators have always accompanied the history of Guerlain, and for La Petite Robe Noire the house gave free rein to the legendary Kuntzel+Deygas, who created some gorgeous images to accompany the fragrance. For Guerlain they have given birth to what they have described as “the sleek figure of a mischievous, endearing and refined Parisian woman moving through a unique showcase on the borders of fragrance and fashion”,as seen above. And isn’t she gorgeous?
The ‘heart-shaped’ bottles of the La Petite Robe Noir collection are inspired by the legendary vials of the house, such as L’Heure Bleue and Mitsouko. The dress illustration has been altered every time so that each of the three fragrances shows a different shape of this clothing. The animated ad campaign was created by French artists Olivier Kuntzel and Florence Deygas.
And, the best part…the Nancy Sinatra song on the video.
"These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you"

The Smell of Sound
The Smell of Sound or the Poet of Perfume World Charles Baudelaire;
"My Soul floats on.... perfume as the souls of other men.... float on music. - Baudelaire"
The packaging is stunning, and suits the fragrance like a custom fit glove
Can a poem be fragrant and a perfume speak poetically, well the answer is yes; a little black dress, great heels and fabulous hair makes for a great entrance into a room. But, all that is null if it is not accompanied by an alluring fragrance.
For many of us this poses a confusing enigma. Not for Charles Baudelaire, arguably the most brilliant poet of nineteenth century France and father of modern poetry. He gave olfaction a unique place in his writings and elevated it to a stature never before seen in the history of poetry. Today for me its Kilian Perfumes the owner is an eco-luxe parfum brand from Paris, created by Kilian Hennessy, grandson of the founder of the LVMH group. (The "H" in LVMH is Hennessy, the famed cognac-making family.)
Back in the days "The Gap or Body Shop" scents were the key to attracting that cute guy from 7th period Social Studies, I remeber I tried a lot of times.
Those were the days when all high school boys roamed the hall reeking of Paco Rabanne or Drakkar Noir. But as you grow, your fragrance should grow with you, becoming more mature, more seductive, and more luxurious.
No fragrance I have encountered in recent years lends itself to those adjectives more than the perfumes from luxury brand By Kilian. One of the fabulous people I know, who happens to work for the perfume house, turned me onto these delicious scents.
The line put out by this brilliant perfume house ranges from delectable candy scents to sexy and spicy. When you pepper your skin with the fragrance you feel beautiful, sexy and I believe a little powerful!
A Taste of Heaven, absinthe verte
The signature scent from the house at the moment is Liaisons Dangereuses, typical me. ”A fragrance inspired by Plum from Damascus, a delicate fruit with a smooth note redolent of an alcove inhabited by languid lovers.” Ah, doesn’t that description just say it all? You feel fresh and lovely when you walk out the door smelling of plums from a far off land!
For a night out or just when you are feeling a little sassy, turn to Back to Black, aphrodisiac. My nose had never had the pleasure of meeting such an exotic scent until I wafted this perfume. With hints of tobacco and honey, Back to Black is truly in a class all it’s own!
Check out the website www.bykilian.com for the complete story behind the incredible fragrances!
Its been a long time since I posted I hope you enjoy. Missed you all so much.
PS You can find them now in Istanbul at Harvey Nichols.

Tea and Birthday Party
My sweet sweet ladies, its been ages since I entered the Tablescape Thursday Party, ohh how I missed you all so much.
So this Thursday Im returning for good.
I hosted a tea party for my Talyas (daughters) friends whom I become very close friends with their mothers. One of Talyas friends Aleyna had missed her Birthday party to celebrate with her friends due onfortunate illnesses (you know how little school students can be during winter time), so we thought why not gather the little friends and the big friends and have a cake for the be-lated birthday girl.
I hope you enjoy the the party as we did.
So please join me at Susans place http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ for the Tablescape Thursday Party.
Happy St.Patricks Day Everyone!

Happy St.Patricks Day Everyone!
I first started with a Turkish coffee home-made sour cherry liqueur made by my mom with chocalte sweets.
This is the end of the party when its time to make a wish and blow out the candles and cut the cake
Afternoon tea and sandwhiches served
My table wont be perfect wihtout my dried fruits
Here is the big girls having fun
And here is the small ones having fun
Just after tea fresh fruit is served for the suprise that the big ladies will have
Now this is a suprise for the big ladies; its sherry time
